Subaru Forester at Le Mans

As a perfect excuse to visit the historic Le Mans race circuit in France, a few members of the Perkins sales team attended the Le Mans Classic bi-annual 24 hour race at the beginning of July 2014. Making an extremely early 2.30 am start from the Great Dunmow Subaru dealership, we travelled to Dover for the 6.00 am ferry across the English Channel.

The 400 mile journey was just perfect.In a convoy of 14 other cars in our group, we set the cruise control at 130kph and enjoyed the mix of Panoramic Sunroof and Climate Control throughout the journey. As we arrived at Le Mans, we set up camp (lots of room in the back of that Forester for the cool boxes and tents...and tables...and beds...must stop, it's starting to read like a car advert !

Ok, so the reason for the article....some beautiful pictures of world class classic racing cars in the most wonderful surroundings. We saw (and heard) some of the most stunning motor cars from 1924 Bentley Blowers to Ford GT 40's, Jaguar D-Type, E-Type, Ferrari 512 BB Le Mans and a rather stunning Le Mans Ford Capri 2600 RS.

Oh yes almost forgot, 40mpg for the 800 miles round trip in our demo Forester 2.0i XE Premium Lineartronic AUTO. The journey home was torrential rain but our Forester was secure and sure footed in the wet and slippery weather. As confidence inspiring handling at 70mph in the wet as it is at 20 mph in the dry.....it really does feel as strong as that....quite incredible really!
