All Ford vehicles are designed and built to extremely high standards, with the aim of delivering a fun and carefree driving experience. However, over time some mechanical parts of your car may wear and in some cases could fail and need replacing, leaving you with an unexpected repair bill.

Protect your vehicle for the road ahead
Ford Protect takes over when your manufacturer’s warranty expires, or has already expired, and covers cars and commercial vehicles up to 4.6 tonnes GVW.

Cover levels:

Gold Cover:
For vehicles less than 7 years old and 70,000 miles at point of warranty sale.
Silver Cover:
(wear and tear is not covered)
For older vehicles which are over 7 years of age or 70,000 miles and under 10 years of age or 100,000 miles at point of policy sale.

  • Cover for both parts and labour, with no excess to pay
  • Available in monthly durations between 3 and 36 months to match exact vehicle ownership periods
  • The maximum claim value must not exceed the vehicle purchase price as shown in the warranty booklet
  • There is no limit to the number of claims that can be made
  • Replacement vehicle hire, up to the value of £30, inclusive of VAT per day for a maximum of seven days in the event of failure (Subject to conditions)

Ford Protect AA Roadside Assistance:
(may only be puchased with a Ford Protect contract at additional cost)
The AA will provide assistance at the roadside or your home; if your car won’t start, has run out of fuel or even for an accident. The AA will either get you back on the road, or recover you to the nearest authorised repairer. If required, Ford Protect AA Roadside Assistance may also be purchased to include the 2nd and 3rd year of manufacturer’s warranty.

MOT Test Warranty:
(at additional cost, vehicle must have 90 days existing MOT)
In the event of an MOT test failure, MOT Test Warranty covers specific items listed on the VT30 fail certificate, including lighting, suspension, steering, brakes, seat belts, sensors.

Protection is available for the next 1, 2 or 3 consecutive MOT tests.

Claim limit per failed MOT is £750 (£25 excess).

Multimedia Warranty:
(available on Gold and Comprehensive Warranty at additional cost)
Covers factory fitted multimedia unit, which may include Sat-Nav, TV screens, DVD player.

Insured period matches your Ford Protect Warranty period.

Significant Features and Benefits

This warranty is designed to pay for the cost of a Mechanical or Electrical Failure as defined in the warranty certificate, including a contribution towards the cost of hiring a replacement vehicle and / or overnight accommodation or rail fares as a result of such failure.

Where You have selected to purchase the warranty You can also include cover for a) Multimedia Pack Extension and / or b) MOT Test warranty.

Significant and Unusual Exclusions or Limitations

  • Subject to the warranty terms, conditions and exclusions, the warranty covers Mechanical or Electrical Failure in respect of Mechanical and Electrical components of Your vehicle.
  • To qualify for the Ford Protect Used Mechanical Breakdown warranty, Your vehicle must not
    • be more than 10 years old, with less than 100,000 miles on the odometer on the date of purchase;
    • Appear on the Excluded Vehicle list held by the selling dealer.
  • The level of component cover will depend upon the age and mileage of the vehicle as follows:
    • Gold Cover

      Under 7 years of age and less than 70,000 miles on the odometer

      All Mechanical or Electrical components of the vehicle as defined in the certificate, otherwise referred to as ‘Gold’ cover.

      This level of cover includes the catalytic converter up to a total odometer reading of 70,000 miles
    • Silver Cover

      Under 10 years of age and less than 100,000 miles on the odometer

      Specified Mechanical and Electrical components as defined in the certificate, otherwise referred to as ‘Silver’ cover.
  • The maximum amount payable under the warranty during the Period shall be up to the purchase price of the vehicle as stated in the certificate Schedule.
  • To maintain cover under the warranty, You must have the vehicle serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines as set out in their handbook.
  • Cover for hiring a replacement vehicle is limited to an amount of £30 per day, inclusive of VAT, for up to 7 days.
  • Cover for the cost of overnight accommodation or rail fares is limited to such costs, excluding the cost for meals, drinks and services, up to an amount of £60, inclusive of VAT.
  • The Multimedia Pack can only be purchased in conjunction with the basic Mechanical or Electrical Failure warranty for the same i) period and ii)warranty terms, conditions and exclusions.
  • The MOT Test warranty can be purchased either with the Mechanical or Electrical Failure warranty or on its own, provided the vehicle has more than 90 days remaining to the expiry date of the current MOT Test, or must be of an age where an MOT Test has not previously been required.
  • Please read the full list of exclusions in the warranty certificate to ensure you are eligible


Right of Cancellation

You have a statutory right to cancel the warranty within 14 days, starting on the later of the date You enter into the agreement, or, if different, the date You receive the warranty certificate. You are only entitled to cancel the complete warranty i.e. You cannot cancel just one of the Sections.

To cancel the warranty, please contact the Ford dealer from whom You purchased the warranty or, alternatively, write to the Administrator c/o at the following address:

On receipt of Your notice of cancellation, You will be entitled to the following refund in respect of the fee paid for this warranty product:
  • a full refund of the fee in the event that You have not received any payment under the warranty;
  • a refund of the difference, less an Administration Charge of £35 inclusive of VAT, where the fee is in excess of any payments that have been made under the warranty;
  • No refund where the payment(s) that have been made under the warranty exceeds the fee.

In the event that You wish to cancel the warranty at any other time, You will not be entitled to a return of any part of the fee paid.

Complaints procedure

Although We aim to please, things can sometimes go wrong. We would rather You told Us if You are not completely satisfied.

Therefore in the event of any complaint, You should in the first instance write to QBE Insurance (Europe) Ltd c/o:-

In the unlikely event that You cannot resolve the matter to Your complete satisfaction with the Administrator, You should write to Us. You will find Our contact details on the Warranty Certificate.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by the terms of this certificate.
